Problem Statement

Science Action Club provides high-quality professional development to afterschool educators. Specifically, we design environmental-science curriculum for middle-school-age young people and then train adult educators on how to teach this curriculum. In 2017, Science Action Club received funding to scale their impact nationwide, going from just five afterschool sites in the Bay Area to over 500 sites in 15 U.S. states.

Outcome

The Educator Portal is an web-based application that allows afterschool educators around the nation to access online lessons about how to teach Science Action Club's curriculum. In order to be certified as an instructor with our program, afterschool educators go on the Educator Portal and complete the online course relevant to the curriculum they wish to teach. The Educator Portal provides a way for educators around the nation to stay engaged with Science Action Club through the certification process and beyond.
